4 international students, 4 different life choices:
One Australia
A story of love and living in Multicultural Melbourne

BOObook Theatre presents ‘Student Body’ an intriguing, surprising and rollicking theatre production by award-winning Australian playwright, Alana Valentine, about the adventures of young people confronting life and love at university, in the clubs and on the streets of Melbourne.

Starring Keith Brockett (The Librarians), Sheena Reyes (Neighbours, City Homicide), and Ash Kakkar, Rachel Fong and Kelly Ryan.

Directed by inspiring young theatre maker Dione Joseph.

Student Body tells of the experiences of four students in Melbourne, Kai Chai from China, Aditya from India, Fon from Thailand, and Song Ye from Malaysia. Compiled from a variety of personal interviews, playwright Alana Valentine explores the untold story of living life as an international student in the world’s most liveable city.

But more than a verbatim play it is the story of how four young people fall in love with Australia, their hopes and dreams and how that relationship is threatened through metaphorical dragons that embody the obstacles that they encounter.

No matter who you are or where you come from, Student Body’ offers the opportunity to find yourself in a performance mixed with truth and fact, sense and sensibilities, power and passions. At the same time, if you’re lucky you may discover your own inner dragon.

Student Body is showing at the Union Theatre, University of Melbourne, Parkville
