Rock out for charity. Local bands like Cherrywood (pictured) would be playing at the relief concert this Easter Sunday.

THE 2011 Christchurch earthquake was a strong 6.3-magnitude earthquake that struck the Canterbury region of New Zealand’s South island at 12.51pm on February 22, 2011.

As of April 8, 172 people have been confirmed dead, with the final death toll expected to be 182, making this earthquake the second deadliest natural disaster recorded in New Zealand. Some bodies have been so badly disfigured that identification is impossible, and some bodies may never be recovered.

One to watch. Combining electrifying progressive and alternative rock with more acoustic-driven rootsy elements, Engine Three Seven fits perfectly into Australia’s compellingly vibrant alternative-rock scene.
