Would you like to be Meld Magazine’s next entertainment editor?

Before we say goodbye to our outgoing entertainment editor Iona Salter (she graduates in a few months and is heading off on a well-deserved long holiday), we thought it’d be a good idea to start scouting for a new editor and give him/her enough time to learn the ropes and fill in Iona’s big shoes!

The position is voluntary, but it would definitely provide good exposure for media students wanting to break into the entertainment industry.

The role would involve casting editorial vision for our entertainment section, hosting news meetings and working with reporters to generate story ideas, commissioning stories, developing new contacts, editing copy, uploading photos, writing headlines and captions, engaging our audience through social media – and on occasion, getting your hands dirty to do some reporting.

Ideally, the entertainment editor would be able to commit two half days a week at the Meld office based in Carlton, but the hours will be flexible and days and time negotiable.

The position is open to both local and international students. To apply, please email a CV, covering letter expressing your interest and recent academic transcript to karen.poh@meldmagazine.com.au by March 31, 2012.
