K-POP superstar Jay Park will be in Melbourne and Sydney this September for his first Australian tour, to promote his first full-length album New Breed. Carene Chong has more.

K-POP superstar Jay Park is embarking on his first Australian tour this September, with stops in Melbourne (Thursday September 27) and Sydney (Saturday September 29).

Tickets go on sale at the end of this month and are expected to sell out quickly.

Jay recently completed his tour of the US, and his first solo concert in Seoul sold out in a record 10 minutes earlier this year.

He has accumulated a huge fan base worldwide, with more than 84,000 YouTube subscribers, 216,000 likes on his Facebook page, and Twitter followers numbering more than 490,000.

Post 2PM, the former leader of the popular Korean boyband has undoubtedly established himself as a singer-songwriter in his own right.

Self-produced, written and recorded, Jay released his first full-length album New Breed in February, collaborating with top US producer Rob Knoz (Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, T.I) and hip-hop group Dynamic Duo among many others.

More than 80,000 copies of the album were snapped up within days of the album’s release, which debuted at number four on the Billboard World Album Charts and reached 16 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Charts. The title song “Know your Name” also topped the US iTunes RnB/Soul Album Chart.

The album has since been picked up for distribution in Japan by Universal Music.

So Jay Walkerz (Jay’s term of endearment for his fans), and all who are keen to catch a glimpse of this K-pop phenomenon, do save the date.

Jay Park will be performing live in Melbourne Thursday September 27 at the Dallas Brooks Centre, and in Sydney at Enmore Theatre on Saturday September 29. Box office opens on July 30, and tickets can be purchased from soulmannalive.com.
