Gangnam Style Flash Mob

Saturday, September 22 – near the State Library

Hey, sexy lady! Psy’s phenomenal music video Gangnam Style has taken over the world. Even Britney Spears learnt the horse dance from Psy himself on the Ellen Degeneres Show this week. Then there are all the spoofs – even a version created for a wedding.  But now, it’s Melbourne’s turn to show our love for the man and his crazy dance moves by putting on a flash mob right in the middle of the city. Join in the fun on Saturday afternoon near the State Library.

Don’t know what Gangnam Style but still want to participate? No worries – check out the video above, or join in on rehearsals on Friday evening and Saturday morning before the actual event. Head to OzAnimart’s Facebook page for more details.

Royal Melbourne Show
Saturday, September 22 to Tuesday, October 2 – Melbourne Showgrounds

The Royal Melbourne Show is back! For those who haven’t been, the show is an annual affair, bringing the best of Victoria’s produce, animals, goodie bags (known as showbags here) and more. Cuddle a joey, watch a demonstration by the contestants from My Kitchen Rules, or get some adrenaline pumping through your veins by going on a thrill-seeking ride, all at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Find out more on their website, and tickets are available online here.

I Scream Nails Pop-up Shop
Every Saturday and Sunday from now till Sunday, October 27 – Northcote

Ever wanted to try an outrageous design on your nails but didn’t know where to start? I Scream Nails has started a pop-up store just so us girls (and guys too) can get our nails done! They specialise in tricky nail art, but they can also put on a few smooth coats of plain polish if you prefer. The pop-up was only meant for the month of September, but lucky for us, it’s now been extended to the end of October, and they’ll be announcing giveaways soon too! For more, follow them on Facebook, make an appointment with Celia at 0405 511 431, or simply rock up at 55 High Street, Northcote over the weekend.

Festival Indonesia 2012
Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23 – Southbank

Experience a slice of Indonesia this weekend at Festival Indonesia 2012! Try some local Indonesian dishes, participate in arts and crafts workshops, and experience traditional dance and music performances. Read more about it in our article here.

Your dog can get a free shampoo at Princes Park this weekend! Photo: Bark in the Park

Bark in the Park
Saturday, September 22 – Princes Park

Man’s best friend gets a day dedicated to him with Bark in the Park, an event that will bring thousands of dogs and their owners to Princes Park this Saturday. They will be attempting to break the world record for “Loudest Bark by a Group of Dogs”. If your pooch isn’t much of a barker, there will be other activities to keep him/her occupied – like samples of dog food, free shampoos, and more. For more details, head to their website.
