City of Melbourne to launch student welcome desk at airport

THE City of Melbourne will this week officially launch its Student Welcome Desk at Tullamarine Airport to help improve the international student experience for new arrivals. 

The City of Melbourne will officially launch its Student Welcome Desk for international students at Tullamarine Airport on Friday, February 1, 2013.

The desk is being described as a one-stop shop of information for newly-arrived students in Victoria.

Volunteers can help provide new arrivals with temporary accommodation options, transport suggestions and even a free welcome kit to help them get started in Australia.

Despite this week being its formal launch, the welcome desk has been running at Melbourne’s airport since 2008.

Drop by the Student Welcome Desk at the Melbourne Airport, International Arrivals Hall, Terminal 2, near the Meeting Point. The desk will be open from January 25 to February 24, 7am to 3pm, and 6pm to 11pm.
