GET caught in King Kong’s grip, hop between restaurants at Southgate, get sprayed by paint or browse through classic costumes. Vivian Tan guides you through this weekend’s highlights.

King Kong’s Grip at Eureka Skydeck
June 1 to August 8, Eureka Skydeck 88 (7 Riverside Quay, Southbank, 3006)

The Eureka Skydeck is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Melbourne. For those of you who have not visited or simply want to experience the breathtaking views again, this weekend is the perfect time to do so!

Not only will visitors be able to see the whole city of Melbourne up high, they will also have the option to take a picture while being caught in “King Kong’s grip” with the city in the background.

The Eureka Skydeck also features the famous ‘Edge Experience’ for those who enjoy heights and thrills.

For pricing and more information visit their official website. Meld also offers discounts through our Little Orange Book.

Southgate’s Progressive Dining
June 23 to September 3, Southgate (3 Southgate Avenue, Southbank, 3006)

Southgate has much to offer, especially when it comes to food and providing a relaxing ambience – one could say it’s an environment made perfect for foodies. And though it isn’t often that we see people hopping from one restaurant to another, this weekend might suggest otherwise.

This weekend, visitors can have a two or three course meal (from different restaurants at Southgate) for lunch on Sundays and dinner on Mondays. It’s an excellent way to taste and sample the myriad of restaurants dotted along Southgate.

Restaurants included in this unique dining experience include:

  • Miyako
  • Scusami
  • Wagamama
  • Pure South
  • La Camera Southgate
  • Chill On Ice Lounge and Ski Lodge
  • P.J.O’Brien’s
  • Tutto Bene
  • The Deck
  • …and many more!

Different combinations of restaurants are available. For more information and bookings head over to the Southgate Progressive Dining webpage.

Life in Color
June 29, Melbourne Showgrounds (300 Epsom Rd, Flemington, 3032)

The world’s largest paint party not only brings paint but music too!

Life In Color is a music festival packed with fun, music, dancing, partying and a whole lot of paint!

Prepare to be splattered in paint by the festival’s famous paint cannons while watching performances from robots, aerielists and some of the best local and international DJs.

Dress however you like; the brighter the better. Just remember that at the end of the night, your clothes will be dripping in paint (which would end up making an excellent souvenir, one would think).

The artist line up for the Life in Color music festival include:

  • David Solano
  • Shogun
  • D.O.D
  • Marlo
  • Bombs Away
  • Sebastian Morxx
  • Will Sparks
  • Slice N Dice
