Head along to the Burger Book Launch at Fed Square for an afternoon of free festivities. They’ll be dishing up 2,000 FREE sliders along with burger eating comps, giveaways and live music! The team that put together The Burger Book – Victoria’s Best Burgers has searched high and low through pubs,  trekked from cafe to corner store and roamed from restaurant to bar to compile this guide to the best burgers Victoria has to offer.

Join the launch party at Swanston St Forecourt where there will even be two honorary burger trucks – Grill’d and Mr Burger – serving up more delicious fare if you still haven’t had your fill!

Check out Fed Square’s site for more details or the Burger Book’s Facebook page.

Supanova Melbourne is on at the Melbourne Showgrounds and ready for another round of sci-fi fun with the usual selection of paraphernalia, supa-star celebrities and the creative talent that inspire their imaginary worlds under one big roof.

Gathered from and surrounded by the wonderful worlds of comic books, animation and cartoons, science-fiction, pulp TV/movies, toys, console gaming, trading cards, fantasy, entertainment technology, books, internet sites and fan-clubs, the result is an amazing atmosphere tailor made for expressing your inner geek and where getting into cosplay (cos-tume role-play) is the obvious thing to do and might win you some prizes at the preliminary round of The Madman National Cosplay Championship on Saturday.

If that wasn’t enough, Supanova is again hosting an incredible array of guest stars. This year’s line up is huge and includes Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Zoe Bell (Raze), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Emmanuelle Vaugier (CSI: New York), who will be signing autographs, taking photos, and getting up on stage for the usual Q&A seminar at some point during the event.

So head on down to get your pop culture fix at Supanova!

Bridge Road Film Festival 2014

Bridge Road is doing something a bit different and running a free film festival at the iconic Richmond Town Hall. The festival will be playing well known classics and more modern films on varying Saturdays. First up is The Castle, a modern day Australian classic about one family’s fight against the local council attempting to acquire their house or castle as they call it, as part of an airport upgrade. The airport just happens to be directly on the other side of their back fence. If you haven’t seen it before, it’s a definite must see and this way it won’t cost you anything!

For more info and to book tickets check out Bridge Road Town Hall’s site.

When: Saturday April 12 (5.45 pm)
Where: Richmond Town Hall (333 Bridge Road, Richmond)

About

Meld Magazine was incorporated as an independent not-for-profit media outlet in September 2008 to reach out to international students in Melbourne, and provide students the opportunity to gain real work experience.

Many international students live in or around the city because of the proximity to their colleges and universities, and that was where we decided to focus our efforts first. Many of us live, work and study locally too. Our editorial team is made of both local and international students, and it has worked to our advantage in providing local content in every sense of the word.
