Anzac Day Dawn service at Shrine of Remembrance and Parade
Friday, April 25 (4.30am); Shrine of Remembrance (Birdwood Avenue, Melbourne) + Friday, April 25 (9.00am); Parade Start (Corner Swanston St and Flinders St, Melbourne)

The dawn service at the Shrine of Remembrance has been a long held tradition around Australia. Anzac Day marks the anniversary of Australian and New Zealand forces landing at Gallipoli during the First World War.

This year marks the 99th anniversary of the landing as thousands turn out to pay their respects to our fallen servicemen and women along with millions around the world.

Join the crowd near the eternal flame, watch the sun come up and witness the sad sound of the lone bugler’s ‘Reveille’.  One minute of silence will be observed as the bugle plays. In order to be part of the service, you will need to arrive by 4.30am for the 6.00am start as the event is always busy.

Join thousands along St Kilda Rd from 9.00am for the Anzac Day Parade as former and current servicemen and women march from Flinders St to the Shrine of Remembrance. The parade involves thousands of armed service personnel, veterans and their descendants who proudly wear their grandparent’s and great grandparent’s medals. Unit wreaths will be laid as representatives arrive at the Shrine.

For more information on the Dawn Service or Parade head to the official event page at the Shrine of Remembrance’s site.

Set at the Barwon Park Mansion, a very appropriate stage for an Agatha Christie play, Spider Web is a murder mystery set in a large country estate with twists and turns galore.

The play’s characters include Henry and Clarissa Hailsham-Brown (the lord and lady of the estate), their step daughter, a police inspector, a gardener, a cook and it wouldn’t be Agatha Christie without a butler. With hidden doorways, secret drawers and characters with concealed motives it should be an intriguing way to spend the day.

Produced by Theatre of the Winged Unicorn, a local creative theatre company who often put on period productions by writers including  Austen, Bronte and Dickens. Guests are invited to have a look through the Mansion before the show starts.

Bookings are required for this event. For more info and to book tickets head to the Theatre of the Winged Unicorn’s website.
