FTW: The Monkey King on DVD

ACTION star Donnie Yen stars as The Monkey King in the latest adaptation of the famous Journey to the West story in China. Hieu Chau explains how you can win one of three copies of the film on DVD!

In China, the Journey to the West story is one that certainly needs no introduction. Since the arrival of film, the story has seen many screen adaptations over the years both on television and more recently as several movies.

The Monkey King, the latest adaptation of the Chinese literary classic, sees Hong Kong action extraordinaire, Donnie Yen (Ip Man, SPL), embrace the mantle of the mischievous titular character as he becomes embroiled in an ongoing battle between between the Jade Emperor (Chow Yun-fat) and the Bull Demon King (Aaron Kwok).

The CGI-laden fantasy-epic, boasts one of the largest productions a Chinese/Hong-Kong film has seen and is one that aims to imitate the success of Hollywood blockbusters.

In China, the film has broken box office records and is only the third Chinese film to earn more than a billion yuan at the Chinese box office (approximately US$165 million).

The Monkey King will be available to own on DVD and Blu-ray from June 16.
