Melbourne’s CBD can be a pretty enchanting place and for overseas students in long-distance relationships, it also offers you the chance to impress your partner and create memories with them while they’re visiting.

But where should students take their partners and what are some of the things they can do together while in Melbourne?

City Circle tram

As one of the oldest cities in Australia, some of Melbourne’s old-world delights can still be seen around the streets of the CBD. The City Circle Tram, with its classic design, is a free and convenient way for international visitors to see the sights of central Melbourne and tour the CBD. Come rain or come shine, you and your partner can simply sit in this cosy tram and let it show your way around the city.

Hosier Lane

World famous for its street art, Hosier Lane’s narrow alley is filled with spray-painted walls produced by local artists. A tourist hotspot, this lane will no doubt create some good photo ops for you and your partner as you admire the unique graffiti art culture in Melbourne. And if you’re lucky, you may even see some artists painting the walls too!

Degraves Street

One of the most striking things about Melbourne is its slower lifestyle accommodating food and cafe culture.  And what better way to see that lifestyle in action than by visiting Degraves St! The short and narrow lane is filled with small restaurants, cafes and dessert shops to treat your partner to – a nice afternoon or brunch out! Ignore your phones for a bit and enjoy eating out with them at Degraves!

Queen Victoria Market

Queen Victoria Market, another one of Melbourne’s iconic landmarks, is great fun to get lost in. Never mind the produce on sale, there’s also a lot of odd shops around that make for nice souvenirs. If you and your partner are in Melbourne during the summer and winter, the Night Market also makes for a fun night out to try the many dishes of Melbourne and enjoy free live entertainment.

Docklands

One of the more picturesque views in Melbourne can be found at Docklands where you can enjoy all that Melbourne’s seaside has to offer from the view of the Melbourne Star. Otherwise, head down to the O’Brien Group Arena for some ice skating fun.
