Singaporeans hoping to travel to Australia now have access to a new long-term, multiple entry visa. The visa is ‘exclusive’ to Singaporeans.

The Visitor (Subclass 600 visa) will allow Singaporean travellers to visit Australia for up to three months at a time, over a six-year period. This option will be available by January 1, 2018 and will make it easier to travel to Australia.

Also announced was a new reciprocal Work and Holiday Maker program. The program will accommodate 500 places per year and is granted to young people from Australia and Singapore wishing to undertake short term work or study.

Under these new visa arrangements, travellers from Singapore can come to Australia to visit friends and family. Businesses can also benefit, as operators are better enabled to conduct regular meetings and attend conferences in Australia.

The initiative was announced by Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and builds on the Australia-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
