Students part of the Arrow neighbourhood in Carlton are leading a charity relief concert for those affected by the Japanese tsunami.

INTERNATIONAL students with a heart for Japan and music are combining the two and organising a charity concert to raise funds for those affected by the March 11 tsunami that struck Japan.

Led by a group of students living at student accommodation at Arrow on Swanston in Carlton, organiser Jorji Yeoh said they hoped to raise as much funds as possible for relief efforts, as well as provide a platform to show off their musical talents.

Aptly titled Swept Away, the relief concert will be held on May 27 at Arrow on Swanston in Carlton.

A total of six bands will be playing a mix of heavy blues, acoustics, metal, funk and hard rock through the night. There will also be a dance number, as well as a performance by a special guest.

“Please bring your friends along to this event. It would be a night of great fun… great music… and contribute towards a good cause,” Jorji said.

Early bird tickets are $10, or buy your tickets at the door for $13. The concert will kick off 7pm on Friday May 27 at Arrow on Swanston, Champions Ballroom, basement 488 Swanston St, Carlton. Check out the event’s Facebook page.
