Ready Steady Light
Federation Square
Are you always messing around with the Christmas lights? Like making furniture out of milk crates? Ever wanted to transform an everyday, domestic object into a fabulous work of light art?
Register now for Ready, Steady, Light – a FREE group workshop presented by Electrolight during The Light in Winter. Get your friends or workmates together on 22 June and spend the afternoon creating your own work of art from found, recycled and provided materials. Each team will be provided with a large scale object that forms the basis of the work and to which you will add light and materials drawn from the ‘Useful Box’. Useful Box materials may include fabric, rope, cable ties, light globes, mirror, glow tapes, cardboard and a range of recycled things.
The foundation of your light work may range from a shopping trolley to a step ladder and from a bicycle to an ironing board. It will be ‘luck of the draw’ on the day. Riggers will hoist and secure your light sculpture to form a permanent part of the Light Hearts installation by former U2 lighting designer, Bruce Ramus in the middle of Fed Square. Works will be unveiled from 6pm, with a chance to win a designer light fitting for your efforts.
Time: 12pm – 4pm
