MELBOURNE singer-songwriter Charles J Tan will return home for a one night only intimate performance under the stars in Carlton this February 18.

The soulful musical nomad is currently on his way to Cannes, France, after being scouted and supported by Australian music publishing company, Valley Arm’s Music Services Asia, to perform showcases at MIDEM, the European equivalent of Big Sound Australia and other such music industry conferences.

The team at Meld Magazine is proud to be the official media partner of Charles’ Homecoming show, and to support the former international student who took the plunge after graduating some years ago to make Melbourne his home and carve out a niche for himself.

The road less travelled hasn’t been easy, and Charles has had humble beginnings (performing and writing songs while working a day job, playing at numerous venues from the emptiest cafes to packed houses at Miss Libertine’s Limelight Tuesdays), before snagging his first break in 2009 where he won the singer-songwriter competition The Storytellers, and later making the Top 50 acoustic singers/songwriters in the indie 2010 MusicOz awards.

Since then, Charles has released an EP “The Pelham Sessions”, performed extensively in parts of Asia and America, represented Australia performing at a music industry showcase in Singapore and most recently, going on tour with YouTube sensation Clara C.

So save the date and make the most of this wonderful opportunity to spend an evening under the stars with Charles J Tan at his Homecoming show: Saturday February 18, 2012, 7.30pm, the Rooftop Garden, Arrow on Swanston, Level 10, 488 Swanston St, Carlton.

Tickets are $29 or $80 for 2 x VIP Reserve (includes a complimentary picnic basket). Book online now at charlesjtan.com – and don’t miss the early bird special which closes January 31.
