THIS year, the Australasian Worldwide Music Expo 2012 is back in Melbourne with the biggest line-up of global roots music ever. Sarah Lim tells you how you can win tickets to one of the shows!

The Australasian Worldwide Music Expo (AWME) is an annual festival which showcases roots music performed by over 50 different international artists. Roots music encompasses several genres of music, including funk, soul, traditional, reggae and folk.

From November 15 to 18, the AWME will be performed at different locations around the Melbourne CBD with a vast variety of artists such as Australian singer Jordie Lane, Ladi6 of New Zealand and Nigeria’s Seun Kuti & Egypt 80.

Aside from the music program, there is also a film program which will have screenings of several short films, and a conference program which includes forums and talks from significant members of the music industry.

We have two double passes to give away!

These tickets are for the show on November 15, Thursday, at 7:30pm, featuring The Bamboos, a Melbourne music group labelled as one of the greatest funk and soul bands of all time. They will also be accompanied on the night by other world-renowned artists and DJs such as Saskwatch, Electric Empire, and Vince Peach.

To be in the running, tell us in the comments below why you’re looking forward to the expo. Remember to provide your real name and email address so we can get in touch with you.

The competition closes on Friday, November 9 and and is only open to those living, studying or working in Victoria. Winners will be announced via email.
