Pixar Artists’ Masterclass in Melbourne
A HEFTY price tag of $600 is not too much to pay to learn at the feet of Pixar animators and storyboard artists it seems, with more than 90 per cent of tickets to the two day Pixar Artists’ Masterclass sold out.Hayden Waugh has more.
If animation is your thing, now is your chance to learn from the best in the business. Deakin University’s Burwood campus will be host to a masterclass in animation and story development with headline instructors from Pixar Animation Studios.
The Pixar Artists’ Masterclass will provide organised visuals, live-action and animated clips, plus a printed workbook for those in attendance. The event, lasting from April 5 to 6, will showcase in-depth lectures from 9am to 5pm each day to assist experienced animators, filmmakers and developers, writers, as well as students with creating their own stories and animation.
Matthew Luhn, known for his work as an Animator and Storyboard Artist for films such as Finding Nemo and the Toy Story trilogy, will discuss ‘Story Development’ on Day One. The development and structure of storyboards will be of key importance, as well as a Q&A session at the end of the day.
Andrew Gordon has been an Animator at Pixar for 16 years and has worked on A Bug’s Life, Ratatouille, and a host of others. During Day Two, Gordon will talk about all facets of animation – including facial animation, gestures and polish.
This event is a must for those with their eyes set in this particular field of tech. The tickets are very expensive, but, for AUD$600 each, it will give invaluable knowledge and potential networking to those serious about breaking into the industry.
