Moomba Festival
8 to 11 March – Yarra River/Birrarung Marr

When March rolls around, the Yarra is transformed into a spot synonymous with good food and great revelry – thanks to the Moomba Festival! Look forward to a great weekend with lots of rides, live music acts, and a spectacular fireworks display. Join in the fun with a circus coming to town, or watch as the Moomba Parade marches by. It’s guaranteed to be a great day out!

Easy French Conversation
10 March – St Michael’s Uniting Church

Looking to pick up a new language, or just want to order your croissants and escargots in perfect French? Basic French classes taught by a native speaker are held every second Sunday of the month. Each class is themed, and include some notes and instructions. You’ll also get the chance to practice in pairs, or groups. Classes start at noon and go for an hour. Bookings are recommended. Wisdom of the Ages
8 March – Hub Melbourne

In celebration of International Women’s Day, a group of women from all walks of life are coming together to answer the question “What I wish I knew when I was 18.” Don’t underestimate the wisdom you may glean from them! Speakers include gold medal Paralympian Carol Cooke and entrepreneur Chantelle Baxter. The event costs $25, and tickets are available online.

8 March, 4-7pm – Melbourne Public Bar and Restaurant

Oyster fans can look forward to cheap, freshly shucked oysters this Friday at the Melbourne Public Bar and Restaurant at Southbank. Choose from a number of cooking styles – au naturel, tempura, or kilpatrick, plus enjoy your oysters to live music, and the chance to win a $100 bar tab.

Cinema Nights at Piazza Italia

Autumn may be here, but make the most of the balmy weather and enjoy a movie outdoors. This weekend, Dr Seuss’ The Lorax is playing at Piazza Italia in the heart of Carlton. Roam around Lygon Str and grab some dinner, then sit back and relax in front of the big screen.
