FTW: Win 1 of 10 double passes to see ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’
When John Wick first arrived in cinemas in 2014, no one expected it take off the way it did. It was a film that rejuvenated the action career of Keanu Reeves, demonstrated that Hollywood could indeed pull off filming exciting and proper action scenes when given the right direction and tools and created a unique underground world of assassins full of intrigue and mystery.
It borrowed from the very best in action cinema, with filmmakers sourcing inspiration from the films of John Woo, anime and martial arts films, and established a style of focused and precision gunplay that hasn’t quite been seen before on film (so much so that the term ‘goes full Wick’ has entered the lexicon). Simply put, John Wick was amazing.
With the sequel arriving on May 18, expectations to successfully follow up from the first film are high.
Keanu Reeves returns as the legendary super assassin forced out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy Italian assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John Wick travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers in an adrenaline-fuelled thrill ride that takes the non-stop action of the original to a whole new level.
John Wick: Chapter Two is grizzly and fun and for fans of The Matrix, you may even be tickled by the reunion of Neo and Morpheus as Laurence Fishburne also makes an appearance. Joining Reeves and Fishburne along for the ride are returning faces names like Ian McShane and Common as well as newcomer Ruby Rose, who plays a mysterious mute assassin.
So if you’re a fan of the first film, or just someone who appreciates extremely tight action filmmaking, see John Wick: Chapter 2 for a rollicking good time.
