Get the look for less: Gothic chic jewellery

JEWELLERY is getting bigger, bolder and… weirder. We show you where you can get this season’s most coveted bling for less.

We all secretly (well maybe not so secretly in my case) want those giant neck cuffs, skull rings, ear cuffs and ear spikes that are dominating the runways at the moment. After all, Gothic chic is in, darlings…

But who really wants to pay a pretty penny, or in some cases a lot of pretty pennies, for something that doesn’t fit into the “hand down to the next generation type” jewellery category?

Here is how to get the look, without blowing the bank. I can’t, however, promise that the minds of your friends, family and casual admirers won’t be blown when they hear that you got these crazy critters for under $100 each!

Delfina Delettrez Skeletal Hand Ring, $23,300 — Same, but different —Shop Viki Skeletal Hand Ring, $49.97

Asos Rhinestone Earcuff, $59.95 — Same, but different — Diva Rhinestone Earcuff, $24.95

Mania-Mania Vortex Neck Cuffs, $290 each — Same, but different —Backstage* Metal Neck Collars, $35 each

Alexander McQueen Skull ring, around $200 — Same, but different — Ebay Skull Ring, $6.98

Meld Magazine was incorporated as an independent not-for-profit media outlet in September 2008 to reach out to international students in Melbourne, and provide students the opportunity to gain real work experience.

Many international students live in or around the city because of the proximity to their colleges and universities, and that was where we decided to focus our efforts first. Many of us live, work and study locally too. Our editorial team is made of both local and international students, and it has worked to our advantage in providing local content in every sense of the word.
