No event is complete without a cracker of an opener – and this year’s lineup promises to be a feast for your eyes. With award-winning designer Mary Katrantzou direct from London opening the show and a fantastic lineup for designers including Collette Dinnigan and Scanlan & Theodore, this is the show to be at. Tickets are $75 and are available online.

L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Powder Room
Tuesday, March 19 – Sunday, March 24

Visit the LMFF Powder Room before any show and consult a beauty expert for any make-up queries you may have. What’s more, you’ll receive a goodie bag! All for free (and as students, we love our free stuff, don’t we)! Follow the link to find out more.

LMFF s Music
Tuesday, March 19 – Sunday, March 24

So maybe runways aren’t your thing and makeup scares you – no worries! LMFF promises an amazing lineup of musicians and DJs strutting their stuff (pun intended) at Docklands’ Central Pier. Keep updated about their full lineup.

We Blog Fashion
Thursday, 21 March

Are you an avid blogger, or thinking of starting a fashion blog? While inspiration is all around during LMFF, you may want to glean off the wisdom of those who have already been in the industry. Take part in a one-day workshop and understand how social media has changed the way we view fashion, as well as how it contributes to Melbourne’s fashion culture. Bloggers Leo GreenfieldKate Longley & Zoe Allnutt will be sharing their unique experiences there. Best of all, this workshop is free! Find out more.

Marie Claire and L’Oreal Paris Beauty Workshop
Saturday, March 23

For the latest makeup trends and tips on achieving that flawless Autumn/Winter 2013 look, the Marie Claire and L’Oreal Paris Beauty Workshop is one event you don’t want to miss. Learn from the best in the industry and you’ll be able to recreate runway-ready looks at home! Tickets are $39, and you’ll be given a L’Oreal gift bag which contains the latest issue of Marie Claire as well as other goodies. I will be there to pick up some (much-needed) make-up skills and review the workshop, so do look out for that next week. Find out more about the event from the LMFF website.

Sportsgirl National Graduate Showcase
Saturday, March 23

See more photos from the 2012 LMFF National Graduate Showcase.

Fashion students, get ready for the Sportsgirl National Graduate Showcase as the latest student designs hit the runway. Be inspired by the vibrancy and creativity of students from RMIT University, University Technology of Sydney, and Queensland University of Technology. Who knows – your designs might be showcased next year. Check out the above video for last year’s show. Tickets start from $40 and are available online.

Mister Mode Fashion Night Market
Saturday, March 23

Mister Mode, a thriving multicultural night market is an unbridled celebration of fashion, music and art.

Last but definitely not the least, you’d want to get some shopping done during LMFF! The Mister Mode Fashion Night Market is back. Meld spoke to the founder of Mister Mode last year, and the LMFF Mister Mode Night Market is a great way to bring all aspects of creativity to life. You’ll find all sorts of artwork, gorgeous clothes, vintage items, and more. There will even be live musicians to entertain while you soak in the atmosphere of fashion week. Tickets are $10 and are available available online.
