You’re invited to the Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome!

NEW to Melbourne, or want to find ways to get involved in various activities? Come along to the Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome this Saturday! Diane Leow has the details.

Held twice a year, the Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome is an event that recognises and celebrates students’ contributions to Melbourne’s cultural life and diversity.

With more than 36,000 international students who live and study in Melbourne’s CBD and its surrounds, this event will give everyone the opportunity to meet performers, take part in interactive activities, attend workshops, and find out more about volunteering opportunities at various information stalls.

Other highlights include FREE food, performances by Melbourne Latin and Brazilian Dance Crew – Katumba, a fashion show featuring Zsaneta, Sleep Couture, House of BohoChic and more.

Plus, you will stand a chance to win prizes including a hamper pack from Eureka Skydeck (valued at $150), a scuba diving trip to the Great Barrier Reef, as well as movie tickets.

Best of all, the event is completely free!

Meld will also be hosting a stall and you are welcome to come say hi!

We’ll see you at The Couch, 69 Bourke Street, this Saturday from 2 to 5pm!

For more information, check out their official Facebook event.

About

Meld Magazine was incorporated as an independent not-for-profit media outlet in September 2008 to reach out to international students in Melbourne, and provide students the opportunity to gain real work experience.

Many international students live in or around the city because of the proximity to their colleges and universities, and that was where we decided to focus our efforts first. Many of us live, work and study locally too. Our editorial team is made of both local and international students, and it has worked to our advantage in providing local content in every sense of the word.
