IDP Education Australia is giving international students the chance to win one of three $5000 scholarships to help to support them with their VET studies in Australia.

The competition, which closes in less than two weeks (!), is open to people who currently live in Australia and hold an Australian student visa or an Australian visitor visa and are willing to accept an offer to study a VET course for at least 12 months.

IDP Education Marketing Manager for Australasia Dario Paolini said the competition would aims to raise awareness for the work IDP Education does to assist and support international students in their overseas opportunities, emphasising not only the financial, but social benefits their service provides for international students.

“By entering, students will not only be going in the draw to win one of three fantastic scholarships,” Mr Paolini said, “but also by following us through social media, they will become part of a broader community of international students.”

IDP Education has more than 80 placement centres in 32 countries, and according to Mr Paolini they’re dedicated to all aspects of the international study experience.

“Our service is not only about placing students into Australian courses; rather, it’s about supporting international students throughout their time here in Australia.  Through this campaign we are hoping to broaden our network of students so we can continue to be there for them whenever they need support.”

The competition hopes to maintain these ideas and highlight the educational value of their service as the scholarship is hinged on the acceptance of an offer to study and achieve a VET qualification.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a type of study that focuses on providing skills for the workforce. It includes certificates I to IV, diplomas, advanced diplomas, vocational graduate certificates/diplomas and English language courses.

It is free to enter the IDP Education scholarship giveaway and the winners will be chosen randomly.

To apply, students simply need to visit the IDP Australia website and follow the instructions on the home screen. By registering, you’re in the draw and you can score bonus entries by sharing the competition with friends, visiting the IDP Education Australia page on Facebook and following them on Twitter.

About

Meld Magazine was incorporated as an independent not-for-profit media outlet in September 2008 to reach out to international students in Melbourne, and provide students the opportunity to gain real work experience.

Many international students live in or around the city because of the proximity to their colleges and universities, and that was where we decided to focus our efforts first. Many of us live, work and study locally too. Our editorial team is made of both local and international students, and it has worked to our advantage in providing local content in every sense of the word.
