FTW: Win an $100 Officeworks gift voucher and try the 3D Printing Experience Centre!

WANT to get your hands on a 3D printed model of yourself or something of your own creation at the Officeworks’ 3D Printing Experience Centre on Russel St in Melbourne? We’re giving you the chance to win a $100 dollar Officeworks gift voucher to try your hand at 3D printing!

Many students will know and understand the frustration of not being able to access the resources they need on campus in order to complete an upcoming assignment.

Design students in particular will no doubt feel this pressure as they need to compete with their peers who also need to occupy a vast amount of time at their campus’ printing facilities and workshops in order to get the design they need submitted on time.

For Trung Nguyen, an Interior Architecture design student at Swinburne University, he faces this problem often especially when it comes to the end of semester when everyone in his course is rushing to complete their final submissions.

But rather than worry about what tools and equipment were available for him to use on campus, Trung sought for any alternatives that would help him complete his project.

Seeking the help of Officeworks’ 3D Printing Experience Centre based on Russel St in Melbourne, Trung met with Officeworks’ 3D specialist Cindy Luong, and was given an overview of what the centre offered and how design students like him could benefit from this service.

For students who aren’t studying design, the Officeworks 3D Printing Experience Centre, also offers visitors the opportunity to scan bigger objects and turn them into smaller-scaled figures. You can even scan yourself!

After consulting with Cindy, Trung was provided with a 3D printed model of his original design and was able to use it as his submitted design for assessment.

Thanks to Officeworks, Meld Magazine is giving away a $100 dollar gift voucher for you to get your hands on your very own 3D printing model. Alternatively, with the new semester fast approaching, the gift voucher can also be used to stock up on uni supplies! To win, simply enter our Rafflecopter competition below. Competition closes July 18.

About

Meld Magazine was incorporated as an independent not-for-profit media outlet in September 2008 to reach out to international students in Melbourne, and provide students the opportunity to gain real work experience.

Many international students live in or around the city because of the proximity to their colleges and universities, and that was where we decided to focus our efforts first. Many of us live, work and study locally too. Our editorial team is made of both local and international students, and it has worked to our advantage in providing local content in every sense of the word.
