The Lord Mayor’s Semester 2 Student Welcome shouldn’t be missed by any student new to Melbourne.
The award-winning event is produced by young people for young people and is all about celebrating the fantastic contribution that multiculturalism adds to the city and introducing students to the delights of Australian culture. Best of all, it’s free.
The Semester 2 event is sure to be a fun afternoon with live entertainment including cultural dance performances, face painting and free giveaways.
Highlight of the event:
Worn Wild :: The Alt-Designers Hub in partnership with the Lord Mayor’s Student Welcome 2011 will showcase a spectacular fashion parade featuring Australia’s leading alt-designers (such as GeoMythik, Le Lash Designs & Dark Muse Corsetry). Aspiring models will strut the catwalk at this award-winning, fun-filled, young people driven event. This fashion show is brought to you by the City of Melbourne, WornWild.com & The Academy of Makeup. Bring your cameras!
The City of Melbourne will be on hand to provide information on the services available to students and answer any questions they may have. Information booths will also be run by the Australian Federation of International Students, ‘The Couch’ International Student Centre, Victoria Police, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health and many more.
