The Garage Sale Trail 2012
IF you’ve never been part of a garage sale before, the great Garage Sale Trail on May 5 will be the perfect opportunity for you to declutter, earn some money, and meet others in your neighbourhood.
Garage sales are a big thing in Melbourne, and if you haven’t been to one, or been part of one, The Garage Sale Trail could possibly be the start of a very satisfying and rewarding journey of discovering that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
On Saturday May 5, community groups, businesses, charities, households, makers and creators, are going to be holding garage sales all around Australia.
We will be part of one too, right here in the Arrow Neighbourhood, as part of the Eco-Carlton – Carlton Collaborating project!
Organised in partnership with The Sharehood and the City of Melbourne, the garage sale will be the perfect way to get rid of your excess belongings, meet other people in the neighbourhood, and earn some moolah while you’re at it.
Shopaholics can revel in the thrill of a good bargain; and for the curious, it’s one rare opportunity to poke your nose into other people’s exclusively personal belongings.
In addition to the stalls that will be springing up in the Arrow Neighbourhood (head to the basement level of the student accommodation Arrow on Swanston), we hear there’ll be food, drink, and entertainment too.
You can also search for other garage sales taking place closest to you by postcode at the Garage Trail Sale website.
So, get creative and get busy! Hopeful sellers will need to register for a stall at the respective garage sales venues for $10. A great way to go about it is gathering your friends to pitch in and share a stall.
Wondering how much you should sell your stuff for? Here’s some advice we found which should help you decide how to price your items.
If you’d like to set up a stall at the Arrow Neighbourhood garage sale, or if you’d like to help out as a volunteer, contact email@example.com or phone 8320 3700.
The Arrow Neighbourhood Garage Sale will take place on May 5 from 9am to 3pm at the basement cafeteria of the student accommodation Arrow on Swanston, 488 Swanston St, Carlton.
