Calling all international students from all over the globe! In collaboration with the 2019 Melbourne Dumpling Festival, City of Melbourne is proud to bring back its annual Lord Mayor Student Welcome (LMSW).

International students both new and old are invited to come together at this free event to welcome those that are set to join our ever-growing international community. What better way to greet our newcomers than with the one thing Melburnians love the most? Our multicultural food! It’s no surprise that one of the best ways to experience this is by eating hot juicy dumplings.

In addition to boasting a huge assortment of delicious dumplings from places such as Dragon Boat Restaurant and Tim Ho Wan, students feeling lucky can enter the giveaway to win a year’s worth of dumplings by taking part in their lucky draw.

There will also be a RIOT Wine Co. popup bar, serving wines that will perfectly complement the food. If alcohol is not to your fancy, worry not as students can take part in a separate bubble tea drinking competition. Other games, missions, and competitions will also take place where students can stand the chance to win a range of prizes!

Multicultural performances will be ongoing at the festival, and for those that want to let loose, join the silent disco on Saturday night and dance the night away with some mates. There is even a free face painting service both nights for students that want to go all in and look the part.

This event is brought to you by the City of Melbourne in conjunction with 206 Bourke Street, and will be buzzing with more than 40 volunteers who graciously dedicate their time to better the international student collective.

For those of you feeling a little lost, come along and grab dumplings and make some new friends. This event runs on Friday 15 March and Saturday 16 March 2019, 5pm till late at 206 Bourke St. Entry is free, and the official student welcome kicks off at 6pm Friday.

For more information on the event, visit the official Facebook event page. Alternatively, visit the official event website. See you guys there!
